Sunday lunch is in full swing at the King’s Head.
Our famous traditional Sunday lunch runs from October through to March using as many vegetables grown on Gower and Welsh meats where possible. If you’re not here, you’re missing out!
Do you think Rhossili Bay is the Best Beach in Britain? We do! Having won the title in 2014 Rhossili Bay is often in the top 10 in the UK and has even been rated 3rd in the World in the past!
We are incredibly lucky to be located just one mile from Rhossili Bay. In fact we have easier access to the beach, and with plenty of car parking at Hillend Caravan Park, there is nothing stopping you seeing it for yourself. You can also walk to Rhossili across the beach, and back across Rhossili Down (or vice versa) to enjoy spectacular panoramic views along your chosen route.
The beach is over 4 miles of golden sand and is a haven for pet owners and horse riders as they are welcome all year round. Surfers love the vast expanse of beach and there are plenty of surf boards and wetsuits to hire just across the road from us in the famous Pj’s surf shop
If you want to bring your horse on holiday, there are several stables in the area with plenty of off-road horse riding including the famous beach. Anna also has a very well known Shetland pony stud with a few spare stables, and just up the road is a livery yard that also accepts your equine friends for holidays!
If you are planning your stay with us, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Guests will find a wealth of information available to them on arrival, including maps for walking or riding, tide times and other useful local knowledge. Many activities are available locally, for all age groups and abilities, most can be found listed on our website here
Is there a more romantic place than the beautiful, quaint village of Llangennith?!
The gorgeous landscape, a 4 mile stretch of golden sandy beach a short walk down the grass banked lane, wild ponies grazing on the hilltops, our pub; a 17th century Inn bursting with history and with open fires in both bars and rustic slate floors…can you picture a better setting to spend your Valentines weekend?
In his story Extraordinary Little Cough, Dylan Thomas described the beach at Rhossili Bay as “the wildest, bleakest and barrennest I know – four or five miles of yellow coldness going away into the distance of the sea”.
It is also one of the most beautiful places in all of the UK – and recently won the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice award for Britain’s Best Beach. It is not difficult to see why.
Dylan Thomas also wrote about our coast in his short story, ‘Who Do You Wish Was With Us?’ he wrote:
“… Laughing on the cliff above the very long golden beach, we pointed out to each other, as though the other were blind, the great rock of the Worm’s Head. The sea was out. We crossed over on slipping stones and stood, at last, triumphantly on the windy top. There was montrous, thick grass there that made us spring-heeled and we laughed and bounced on it, scaring the sheep who ran up and down the battered sides like goats. Even on this calmest day a wind blew on the Worm.” – Dylan Thomas
